“Education System needs- change”
Changing the education system is the need of the hour. Education system is one of the important pillars on which our society is developed. It should be an epitome of the past and at the same time it has to be contemporary.
How long are we just going to stick to the class room teaching? Teaching method calls for a change. Technology should be adopted; visual based teaching method with the help of broadband can be of great help for teachers in villages also .There is an urgent need to add more practicals in the subjects. Foreign languages, Co-Curriculum activities such as sports and music should be introduced in the syllabus. It should be coupled with technology and there has to be a structured education system in the country. Syllabus in villages and cities has to be uniformed. At the same time we have to see that our students learn our state language that is Gujarati. Our education system should recruit good teachers. And Gujarat state should have more number of Engineering, Pharma and Medical colleges. |

To improve quality of teachers, it is generally found that teachers teaching in muncipal(free for all education) are inefficent and arrogant, also more vocational subjects should be there, ranking should be abolished till 5th std. |

Experiment based teaching is the need of the hour. This is the original Indian teaching system. Even Germans learnt that from us and see how they have developed. MIT (world's #1 Engg. college) adopted the same and see you get many Nobel winners in each department there. Experiments bring involvement of students. "Tell me and i will forget, show me and i will remember, involve me and i will understand". Thoda ma ghanu samaj jo. |

Students of Gujarat are lacking practical education.Only education we have is bookish.Gujarat university should get itself affiliated with many industries so that students who are pursuing their bachelor degrees in any field can work for those industries for few weeks while doing their bachelors and get experience. This work/internship should not only be made available to students during their last year of studying but also should be made regularly available to them after six months or a year. This industries should not only be confined to Gujarat but to whole of India and if possible in different countries also. This will help Gujarat university and its students to go to the next level and gain lot of experience of working in different cities/countries.We all know Gujarat university is not the best in India. We should do something to make it the best in India. And I also believe in statement that one person commented on this site "Tell me and i will forget, show me and i will remember, involve me and i will understand". |

I Fully Agree with Mr. Naresh that there should be Regular Updations in our present working system, Education is one of them.Where we need to Benchmark the West & the US. I would also like to enforce on Education for all. Like we should carry out measures such that all our Country & State Men get at least Primary Education (Upto 10th).This will bring a Paradigm shift in thinking of all People & Nation as a whole. May be we will have to take lot of actions that too at a Tremendous Speed (Like NANO was brought to Gujarat) to make this happen. And ideas can be generated by Brainstorming between Knowledgeable Persons & Excellant Manager's. |

I think word education shall get along with learning.
From early stage of childhood, it has to be more interest base teaching that imposed one. Every child has an area of interest and a distinctive capability to perform well in an area. I think, our educational system should support child to develop the same and assist child to become master of what s/he do. Today, we see that our culture has become so narrow that we look at education only a mean to earn bread and butter and in doing so we actually ruining creativity of many hidden prospects in children.
Instead of pushing child toward what we think , from our own experience in life, they have to do, we must have a proper educational system in place to find out true ability of child. Doing so not only help child to perform well in his life, but also provide multiple talent to society at large. |

quality level of Teachers in even Private schools should be maintained. If it is on paper only, it should be strictly implemented. There should be quality control while recruiting teachers. The school operators require to pay enough to get qualititive teaching staff. |

In school we should teach our child a good "Vedic sanskar". IN every school there should be a religious teaching also who give idea to our child about our greatness of vedic sanskriti and they also know what we have achieved since. |

I fully agree with Mr naresh that there is need to update our regular education systems.what i feel is that before going to adopt new technologies in colleges, there is need to change whole system for school children.I found there is great burden for students and it is difficult for small children to carry such burden.at their small age of playing ,they have no time to play .parents to enforce their children to take part in various activities. So this need to be improve for better future of gujarat |

I strongly support the views. But as a parent has any of us taken initiative to work in this direction? I shifted to Ahmedabad before four years from Mumbai. During admission process of my children to school and college I have physically stopped children to break the long queue . For this we can not simply blame the children because in Gujarat it is common practice to follow short cuts. Hardly any student studies without tuition classes . As a parent we simply wash off our hands by saying “ SCHOOL WALA TO KAHIN KARWANAJ NATHI. APNE TO TUTION RAKHI LEWANU.” Tuition teachers are not from Space. When they can train students in coaching classes then why not in school? Still we have time when we can gift back our children’s lost childhood. Let us join hands to rectify the system. I’m available all the time for this purpose and waiting for other parents to join me.We can not wash off our hands just by blaming the system . We will have to be part of the system and feel our responsibilities. Taking part in Teach India will not suffice the purpose if we can not take care of own children’s development as the charity begins from home. |

Have we ever thought what happens when our children fail to fulfill our dreams of getting the desired percentage or when they slip to second rank by just one mark ? We as a parent put 100 Kgs of load on our child whereas he is only capable of carrying 50 Kgs, and ask him to carry it because his classmate does so. We never try to understand that each child is different and so the load carrying capacity. By giving this example I am trying to say that in our education system the MARKING/RANKING system should not exist's until a certain age when the child has really understood the purpose of it. Let the child first understand "why I have to study" and "what is my interest" and allow him to select the field of his interest, then you can start the MARKING/RANKING system and see the child performing. |

Few points i have to discuss on Improvmnet of education: Might be they appear in above posts but i still want to consider them 1) industrial training with education, at least 6 months training must be for bachelors degree and 1 year for masters degree with study. 2) Computer, internet, R&d based Project work - Must be in team work. (students can learn better English, computer work and importance of Team work) 3) for the primary students there should be one social cause project like try to get Clothes, Toys, books, etc from door to door) NO MONEY PROGRAM 4) Provide rotation base Leadership skill n schools or colleges 5) Provide 4 in year Specialist in a reputed Field person's speech from the school time 5) Provide CURRENT MARKET or live, current examples in books 6) CASE STUDY BASE EDUCATION. 7) Hindi must be a language subject till 12th std. |

If we want to compete with the world, we need to promote English Medium education aggressively and improve the course content quality at par with ICSE or CBSE in schools , and also promote English Medium education in Colleges other than Engineering and Medical ( which are already in English). The Quality standard of teachers of affiliated schools should be clearly defined and strictly monitored . There should be a well defined scheme to improve the quality of Education at Rural areas "at par" with urban schools. Special concessions and promotional schemes should be given to Good Private Public Schools to open their centres(schools) in rural areas. |

For good teachers: - Performance based salary. In western countries, salary is performanced based. In our country, salary is experience (age) based. So, in our country, salary will continue to rise even if all students fail ! Secondly, performance based salary will keep performance pressure on teachers. It is a common experience that teachers escape their duties as their salaries are not affected anyway. -Raising the salary. Good teachers prefer to start private tuitions rather than teach at school. This is because of an extremely low starting salary (5,000 Rs.)and a handsome amount in Private tuitions. If my above theory is accepted, teachers should be offered salary from 15,000 to 60,000 based on their performance. - Surprise inspections. Educational inspectors should go for a surprise visit to schools. Currently, all schools are informed before 1 week about inspections and so teachers start teaching good on inspection day. |

I highly appreciate your thinking about the status of gujarati language and uniformity of syllabus between city and rural education. We should be ashmed for not knowing our mother tongue. Also, similar attitude should be developed for our national language hindi. There should be some methods for encouraging and rewarding those who can speak our languages fluently. from mumbai |
