Shri Narendra Modi met BJP President Shri Rajnath Singh today in New Delhi. This is the first meeting between Shri Modi and Shri Rajnath Singh after Shri Singh took over as BJP President.
Speaking after the meeting Shri Modi said, “To congratulate Shri Rajnath Singh (on his taking over as BJP President) I had sought time and today I have come. I sought his guidance on what we can do in the future in Gujarat, if he has any suggestions for the same. We discussed how under his leadership we can serve the BJP and how the Gujarat BJP can serve the nation. On this we spoke at length.”
On being asked if they discussed the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Shri Modi replied in the affirmative and said they spoke about it in great detail.
Shri Rajnath Singh said, “When I was elected party President, I got telephone call of Narendrabhai and he congratulated me and said he wanted to come to Delhi and meet me. Today he came we sat for 1.5 to 2 hrs. We spoke on Gujarat and on the 2014 elections.”
Before leaving for Delhi earlier this morning, Shri Modi had Tweeted, “Leaving for Delhi. Will meet Shri Rajnath Singh ji & congratulate him on his taking over as BJP President.”
When Shri Rajnath Singh was named as the candidate for the post of BJP President a few days ago, Shri Modi had extended his best wishes and pointed out that the BJP would gain immensely from his election as the Party President. He had Tweeted, “I called up Shri Rajnath Singh ji & congratulated him. He brings with him vast experience of both organisation & administration” and added, “Rajnath Singh ji served as Agriculture Minister in Atal ji’s Govt. He has always been associated with the farmers. BJP will gain from this.”
Recently, Shri Rajnath Singh had visited Gujarat during Shri Modi’s swearing in ceremony. He had also visiting during the 2012 Gujarat Vidhan Sabha campaign and at the start of Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra in on 11th September 2012.
