Mitsubishi keen to develop Changodar, Sanand as eco towns

A high-level Japanese Mitsubishi Corporation team led by its chairman-managing director Mr Keichi Nakagaki today evinced keen interest to develop Changodar and Sanad as smart community and eco-friendly industrial townships, falling midway on the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), in collaboration with Government of Gujarat (GoG).

Mr. Nakagaki during his meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi here presented details of advanced infrastructure technology to implement energy management, waste management and transportation blueprints, after his talks with senior officers of Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB), Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB), Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) and Industries Department.

The team also briefed Mr. Modi about developing Sosiyo-Alang ship-breaking yard as ship-recycling business industry, taking care of waste and recyclable materials management system. The Mitsubishi Corporation is preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) following an agreement with the GoG at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit, VGGIS-2009 to develop the ship-breaking yard as Gujarat Recycling and Management Zone (GRAMZ) in collaboration with Japan Development Institute (JDI).

Mr. Modi suggested Mr Nakagaki to consider Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with GoG to take up 50 towns as the next development centres. Since urban infrastructure is likely to rule the VGGIS-2011 negotiations, he extended Mt Nakagaki invitation to participate in the next VGGIS-2011.
