Budget will make Gujarat capture sublime heights in all areas: CM
 
 
Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi described the Gujarat Budget for 2010-11, presented in Legislative Assembly as growth accelerating and an able budget that will deliver development benefits to every individual of the State.

Chief Minister said that Gujarat's first budget for 1961-62, presented by Late Chief Minister Shri Jivaraj Maheta had provision of Rs 33.19 crore and today, after 50 years it has reached to Rs 29500 crore. First four decades after 1960, witnessed five year plan size of Rs 43756 crore whereas in first decade of 21st century the plan size has almost tripled and reached to Rs 118761 crore, reflecting efficient administration of the Government.

He further said that Center's uncertain policies regarding sales-tax has lessened the income of the State but if the Center is supportive to the provisions made in the budget, it will not add up tax burden in the lives of people.

Shri Modi said that budget has given prime importance to the development of poor and exploited. Out of total provisions made, 72% has been allotted to social services, infrastructure, rural and agriculture sector.

He mentioned about Mission Mangalam Yojana for Sakhi-Mandals, a mechanism empowering rural women and training centers for capacity building in youths.

Shri Modi also gave outline of Ram-Hanuman Pavanpath Project and Santnagari Nirman Project and said that projects will chart Gujarat as a religious land in the eyes of foreign tourists.

Chief Minister expressed his resolve to take Gujarat to sublime heights in all areas in the Swarnim Year, through people's participation and added that the current budget will help the State to actualize this dream.
