CM inaugurates Rs.1100-cr steel plant at Bhimsar
A joint venture between India’s Ruchi group and Japan’s Mitsui group
Kutch has emerged as a steel hub of India: CM
Gandhinagar, Thursday: Chief Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated second phase of steel plant of Indian Steel Corporation (ISC) which has been expanded at the cost of Rs.884 crore at Bhimsar of Kutch. The plant is a joint venture between India’s Ruchi Group of Industry and Japan’s Mitsui group. With the expanded plant, the company’s production capacity has reached to six metric ton.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister said that Kutch has emerged as a steel hub of India. Kutch provides as a model of development for others to follow. Kutch has achieved an all-round and all-inclusive growth by adopting a strategy for balanced development.
ISC had commissioned its first steel plant with the investment of Rs. 241 crore at Bhimasar in 2005. During Mr. Modi’s Japan visit in March-2007, Mitsui and Ruchi Group had shown interest to setting up second phase steel plant with the investment of Rs. 884 crore. Subsequently, the ISC had signed MOU for this during Vibrant Gujarat Summit- 2009, which has resulted into commissioning of second phase plant in Kutch.

Investment in the Industrial sector of the state is highest in the country. Apart from Industrial development, Gujarat has achieved significant growth rate in agriculture sector, Mr. Modi said. This shows that agriculture, industry and service sectors are equal contributor in the development of the State and the state is leading in the manufacturing sector also.
Gujarat has become automobile hub of the country and all the leading auto company has set up plants in the state, he said.
Indore MP Sumitra Mahajan credited the growth of Gujarat to the leadership of Chief Minister Narenedra Modi. After the devastating earthquake in 2001, Gujarat has turned all the odds into opportunities, she said.
Kailash Sahara, Chairman of Indian Steel Corporation said that Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s farsighted policy of attracting developing countries to invest in the State has resulted in to significant industrial progress.
Officials of the company, Minister of State Vasanbhai Ahir and MLA Dr. Nimaben Acharya was also present on the occasion.
