Gujarat has launched a battle against poverty. But some people who know nothing but to criticize are out to grill their political breads in the name of poor. They don’t have real concern for the poor, said Chief Minister Narendra Modi while making a computer-draw for the allocation of 8,000 AUDA-built houses to the urban poor beneficiaries.
Chief Minister said that automakers from the world over are coming to Gujarat. In the coming time, Gujarat will produce 50 lakh cars annually. Since the production of one car will fetch employment for about ten youths this will translate into employment for about five crore youths. But the fault-finders are not ready to accept this.
A programme for allocating 8,076 houses to the urban poor through a computer-draw was held in Singarwa area. The houses have been built by AUDA at ten different locations at the cost of Rs.175-crore. Chief Minister also lays foundation stone for Singarwa-Kathwada underground gutter scheme which involves a cost of over Rs.17-crore and kicked-off the modernization work of the lakes of Singarwa area involving a cost of rupees five crore.
Chief Minister said that his government has always been working for the cause of poor and acting as a support to needy people. The government has taken up the project of building houses for urban poor at the cost of Rs.1700-crore. The present government has built even more houses for the poor than it was built in the first forty years of the formation of Gujarat state. Poor get strength to fight against poverty when they get a good house for themselves.
Chief Minister detailed out how the state government is being supportive to every stage of the life of poor. Be it the safety of pregnant women, providing nutritional food to mother and kids or providing higher education, state government put lakhs of rupees in the hands of poor, he said. The state government provides food to poor on concessional rates, provides free-of-cost treatment for critical illnesses to poor children. The government also organizes Garib Kalyan Melas to distribute aids worth crores of rupees directly in the hands of poor beneficiaries. Under Shaheri Garib Samriddhi Yojna the government will develop various amenities for the poor with the expense of Rs.13,000-crore, Chief Minister added.
Urban Development Minister Nitin Patel criticized the opposition’s odd mentality and described it as anti-poor and corrupt.
Also present on the occasion were MP Harin Pathak, Mayor Asit Vora, MLAs, Corporaters, pachayat leaders and people in large number.
